Were holidays even any fun before I had kids???? I'm sure they were but, seriously, I love seeing how excited my children get about stuff like this. This morning, I got them into their costumes and tried taking a picture of Hayley, but my camera had been left in the car overnight (oops!) and it was still cold, taking blurry pictures like this:
I still kinda think it looks cool, all blurry like that. Maybe I should just claim I set my camera to "blurry" on purpose, you know, for dramatic effect.
I found Hayley playing with her princess castle. In her princess dress. I had to take a picture because, really, this is pretty much why I've always wanted a little girl.
We had a busy day of errands, running from here to there all day. We went to Boston Pizza for lunch, where we again confirmed the fact that feeding kids lemons is stinkin' hilarious!
To go trick-or-treating, Hayley wore a little ladybug costume instead because it was warmer (and had built in mittens!). They looked pretty cute.
Carter was a dragon, which was so perfect for him because he pretends to be a dragon all. the. time. This kid has about 5 different animals that he rotates between pretending to be everyday. With their own names, too (Fido the Puppy. American Dragon. Baby the Bear Cub... you get the drift...) which he insists we refer to him as. He has quite the imagination and will mimick these animals' exact movements, facial expressions, noises, everything and keep it up all day long. Even when he doesn't realize I'm watching him either - it's baffling how much effort he puts into it. I'm not complaining though. Whatever gives me more time to Facebook blog clean, right?

Holy Pumpkin, Batman
Last night the kids and I carved a pumpkin, mostly to occupy our time because Jared's gone. We carved a batman pumpkin - at Carter's request - and now he wants to go back to the store and get more pumpkins to carve Superman, Spiderman, Ninja Turtles, etc. Hayley, our little daredevil, loved squishing the pumpkin innards between her fingers. Carter, on the other hand, pointer-finger-touched the gooey stuff after much persuasion, then immediately washed his hands and sat back to just watch us gut it. So Typical.
Jared is in Vancouver right now for work. Their company's lawyer is also the lawyer for the Canucks so Jared gets to go to the Canucks game this Saturday. And sit in the box. With the General Manager of the Canucks. He's a tad excited.
I just hope he doesn't cheat on me with Ryan Kesler. Knowing Jared and his unnatural love of the Canucks, it could happen.

Trash-tastic
That's what we were for last night's Halloween party. I went as Britney Spears(the sign on my pregnant belly said "oops I did it again") and Jared dressed up as his brother Jonathan Kevin Federline. I was so impressed with everyone's costumes. We had a wounded soldier and his doctor, a couple caught "rolling in the hay" (those naughty Atwoods. Always pushing the limits :)...

I missed getting pictures of so many others: Popeye and Olive Oil, the pair of blue jeans, the jewish man, little red riding hood, and the elderly couple (who should get the award for staying in character the entire night).
We visited, ate good food, played "things in a box", and rocked out.
Halloween has never really been a favorite holiday of mine, but with parties like these, it could easily work it's way up my list :)
Thanksgiving
We went up to my parents' house in Sherwood Park for Thanksgiving weekend. We had so much fun eating yummy food, shopping, visiting with friends,
celebrating my mom's birthday,
singing songs and doing the Hokey Pokey,
and being silly...
The whole weekend just went by way too fast, but it was so good to see everyone. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
She's Still Got It
Today is my Mom's birthday and she turned 21! Okay, I'm kidding, she's a bit older than that, but don't you think she looks as youthful as a 21-year old???
There are two things I should note:
1. My mom reads my blog faithfully, but probably wouldn't approve of me posting her picture on here or making a big deal of her birthday.
2. Some of you blog readers may know her as the "Anonymous" commenter who regularly accuses me of being pregnant, dressing my son like David Beckham, and photo-shopping pictures of myself.
I think we're even :)

A few days ago, we were doing this...
Today, we did this...
I am so not ready for winter.
This morning, we had a little visitor out our window while we were eating breakfast. Usually we have two female does and their babies walking around the neighborhood, but today it was this buck. And boy, was he friendly. We came out onto the deck and he was just standing there, almost as if posing for a picture. That, or trying to get fed.
We were standing up on the deck, and he kept trying to get closer to us. He even stepped up onto the flower bed and craned his neck up. His little uni-brow was kinda cute, and he seemed like he just wanted me to reach out and pet him...
Of course I didn't. Uni-brow or no uni-brow; I'm not getting hoofed-to-death :)
I bribed them with Skittles.
*Warning - this post may only be interesting if you are biologically obligated to think my kids are cute. Like you, Mom.*
Approximately once a year, I cruelly subject my children to participate in a "photo shoot", led by moi. I am in no way claiming to be a photographer, but it's something I enjoy and would like to be really good at someday. That and the fact that - like any self-absorbed parent - I think my cute kids are worth photographing. Also, my love of taking pictures has only heightened now that I now live in the most beautiful place in the world (in my humble opinion). Here are a few of my favs:
